After submissions close, the Murphy Square editors take about a week to two weeks to read and review all the submissions in their field. The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor read all submissions and review all the art. After the allotted reading time, all the editors meet as a larger group to discuss and select submissions. The editors vote “no”, “yes”, or “maybe”, and all works with a majority of “yes” pass. The “maybes” are discussed and generally accepted provisionally, depending on whether the author agrees to make some edits or if we have enough space in the journal. Finally, the Editor-in-Chief will send an email to all submitters with a list of which submissions were accepted to be printed in the journal.
