A closer look at the anemone tank in Science Hall 225

This recent photo shows a large rose anemone on left (which hosts a pair of clownfish), a large leather coral on right, a giant clam (with greenish mottled coloration) in back right, and an assortment of other corals and anemones. CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS OF ANEMONE

This pair of clownfish (and other pairs in other tanks) spawn regualarly, providing us with eggs that allow our students remarkably clear views of circulatory systems in action within the embryos. A several day old clownfish embryo from the pair shown above is shown below. In slightly older embryos the circulatory sysgem is very well develeoped and all parts in living ebryoso are clearly visible under a microscope.
