Coral reef aquarium

The larger of two interconnected tanks, this aquarium houses a miniature coral reef ecosystem. This tank has been designed to meet the needs of a variety of reef-dwelling invertebrates, including small and large-polyped stony corals, soft corals, gorgonians, mushroom and zooanthid anemones, clams, oysters, shrimp, feather duster worms, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, tunicates, sponges, and many others. Also included are a variety of fish, including sailfin and hepatus (blue) tangs, green chromis, yellowheaded jawfish, and a captive-bred pair of Banggai cardinalfish. Additional fish, corals, and clams will be added during the Summer of 1999.

Dimensions of tank: 30" x 28" x 23" (l x w x h)

Lighting: One 400 W 6500K metal halide bulb, plus two 96 W VHO fluorescent blue (actinic) bulbs.
