Augsburg College Theater presents:
Sweet Maladies
By Zakiyyah Alexander
Directed by Guest Artist Dominic Taylor
Just after the Emancipation Proclamation, three sisters find themselves uncertain as to how to go about leaving the plantation where they have spent their lives in bondage. An unsettling and witty take on Genet’s The Maids, Zakiyaah Alexander’s Sweet Maladies examines the deep entrenchment of race and power in 19th century America upon the dawn of a new era.
