Brief Biography

Douglas E. Green specialized in English Renaissance literature for his
doctoral work at Brown University but has been all over the map since then.
His most recent passions are contemporary criticism, contemporary drama
in English, and writing poetry, but he hasn't given up on Shakespeare, Milton, and Defoe.
He likes to have students re-write papers they thought were finished, especially
in Effective Writing and Intermediate Expository Writing.  He publishes
scholarly articles on Shakespeare and other subjects, which remind him that no
work, not even one in print, is quite as good as it could be.  He enjoys reading
novels aloud and going to the movies--both art films and pop trash.  He lives in
Northfield, MN, with his partner Becky Boling, who teaches Spanish at Carleton
College, and their son Zach.

Professor Green is the faculty adviser for QSU (formerly BAGLS),
the student organization supporting bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and
questioning members of the Augsburg community.  In this capacity he works with
QSU staff adviser Jay Wiesner.
